Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind.
And therefore is winged Cupid painted blind.

It is said, and it is true, that just before we are born a cavern angel puts
his finger to our lips and says, "Hush, don't tell what you know."
This is why we are born with a cleft on our upper lips and remembering nothing
of where we came from.

Although the basic unadorned cherub appears to be just a baby with
wings, cherubs are in fact, a kind of celestial messenger service,
dedicated to delivering life's finer things! All those sweet intangibles
- the arts, beauty and of course even love - are brought to us by cherubs.
The next time cupid's arrow touches your heart listen for the faint flapping
of tiny wings.

There are three orders of angels,
each has three choirs,
making a total of nine choirs of angels.

"Oh look at all the angels choiring in the sky." I called out to the
people who went unseeing by.
"The man is mad" the people said. "Let none pay heed to him Who looks
at clouds and thinks he sees a singing seraphim."
I do not mind my madness. What blest insanity to have the power
to look at clouds and in a cloud to see a singing host of angels.
What if my mind allowed Me to look at angels, and only see a cloud!

Paul Laurence Dunbar
|
An angel, robed in spotless white, bent down and kissed the
sleeping Night. Night woke to blush, the sprite was gone,
Men saw the blush, and called it Dawn.

I sit on the stairway, and hear his car pull away,
the sounds of departure echoing into silence. His books
on the table lie forlorn and forgotten like myself,
and they seem to shout that he is gone. In the house there
is a space for him, filled with his presence and his smile.
If I reached out I would touch him, but my hand would touch
space. That void has personality, it fills the house, it speaks
of loneliness. My heart answers a call, my mind is filled with
a cry, but still I sit in mindless silence.
I can touch the silence, it surrounds me. I speak to break it, but
the sound of my voice echoes in the vast emptiness. My heart
is sad, my world is crowded with ghosts. I try to tell myself
that he will come back, but the clock ticks away the moments.
I am still. I am empty. I am alone.

A friend is one who knows all about you
and loves you just the same.

Remember me when I am gone away. Gone far away into the silent
land; when you can no more hold me by the hand, nor I half turn
to go, yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day you tell me of our
future that you plann'd; only remember me; you understand
it will be late to counsel then or pray. Yet if you should
forget me for a while and afterwards remember, do not grieve;
for if the darkness and corruption leave a vestige of the thoughts
that once I had. Better by far you should forget and smile than that
you should remember and be sad.

To worry is to put today's sunshine

We do not make our friends, we find them only where they have
waited for us many years; One day we wander forth a little lonely
and lo! A comrade at our side appears. 'Tis not discovery. 'Tis
recognition - A smile, a glance; and then we grasp the hand, no
explanation needed, no condition. That we are friends at once we
understand.
